Bank of America at Universal Closes after 3 Decades

The Bank of America at Universal Studios off Lankershim Boulevard has closed for good.

As part of the Universal Studios expansion plan, the building that housed the Bank of America is going to be refurbished as offices for movie production companies.

Studio City Neighborhood Council President John Walker said he had fond memories of the bank.

"I have been going there for 28 years, and I can't believe it's closed," Walker said.

Walker worked at Universal's lumber yard in 1974 when he first came to Los Angeles.

The ATM machine is boarded up and covered and a sign in the window thanks everyone for their patronage and gives the closest branch in North Hollywood on Lankershim.

The bank was used as a training facility for bank employees in the San Fernando Valley.
