Box Office Report: New 'Ice Age' Skates to Top Spot

"Spider Man" drops to second place after hitting $200 mil.

Another animated sequel opened in the number one box office slot, as "Ice Age Continental Drift" opened with $46 million in estimated ticket sales, an analyst said today.

Preliminary estimates from the studios for sales in the U.S. and Canada showed "The Amazing Spider Man" to have dropped to second place, with a $35 million weekend and a $200 million running gross, according to figures gathered by Hollywood.com.

The R-rated semi-cartoon "Ted" is in third place, with a $22.1 million weekend and a running total of $159 million. Add in worldwide sales, and the film has grossed $190.3 million, calculated Paul Dergerabedian at Hollywood.com.

Rounding out the 10 most-popular films in the U.S. and Canada, as estimated by the studios and collated by Hollywood.com, were "Brave" " ($10.7 million), "Magic Mike" ($9 million), "Savages" ($8.7 million), "Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection" ($5.6 million), "Kate Perry: Part Of Me" ($3.8 million), "Moonrise Kingdom" ($3.7 million), and "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" ($3.5 million).
