Former L.A. City Councilman Richard Alarcon:…

Gas Prices at Their Lowest Since August

Several South Pasadena gas stations offer per-gallon prices even cheaper than the low Los Angeles average.

Have you noticed that gas prices haven't gouged your wallet quite so deeply lately?

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County decreased Wednesday for the 36th consecutive day, falling 1 cent to $3.886, its lowest amount since Aug. 6.

The average price has decreased 81.9 cents over the past 36 days, including eight-tenths of a cent on Tuesday, after rising 50.4 cents over the previous seven days and reaching a record high of $4.705 on Oct. 9, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

In South Pasadena, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.69 at APG, Fair Oaks Avenue and Monterey Road, according to gasbuddy.com. Up the street at Mission and Orange Grove Avenue, Arco is charging $3.73 per gallon.

The average price in Los Angeles is 9.7 cents less than one week ago and 77 cents lower than one month ago, but 3.8 cents more than one year ago.

What in the world is going on at the gas station on F.O./Monterey Rd? Today it's an Arco! A few days ago it was something else!

Wow. I was just walking on Monterey today, but just short of Fair Oaks. I'll check it out :-)

My family and I are in process of moving to South Pasadena. We were excited to find out that gas prices were almost a dollar cheaper in South Pas than they are where our corporate housing is in West Hollywood!!!

Two Arco's and two Von's - how about a little variety is this small city? At least the 2 Arco's aren't across the street from each other....

I was very happy to see that Fair Oaks and Monterey has become an Arco. Arco is the most inexpensive gas around. Because of that, Arco stations are usually very crowded. This new one I hope will reduce the crowding at the Orange Grove and Mission one. This is also surprising because I read a few months ago that BP was planning to close most Arco stations. We're lucky it hasn't happened yet.
