I read this story, (no it wasn't on Patch), about this groovy new barbecue and I went out to try it and it was the best I've ever had.
The website of the place is here. (http://superstarlida.wix.com/bbq) and the article I saw was here (http://www.chow.com/food-news/125730/great-bbq-chicken-from-a-studio-city-parking-lot/) and although I'm shaming Patch for not knowing about it, I decided to give this rave review to Patch.
Now, I know good barbecue. i like that place in Burbank that has the outdoor pit and is only opened on weekends. I love Dr. Hoggly Woggly's in Van Nuys, and the great family-owned pit near the airport.
Now, supposedly these guys came on the scene only a few months ago, but I've only just seen them and I live in the area.
I ordered the BBQ chicken, and the meat is juicy and the skin is nice and crispy like I like it. Then tried the Tri-tip and it was simply spectacular. How about some baby back ribs? At the risk of sounding like Fat Bastard in the Austin Powers films, I love those baby-back-baby-back-baby-back ribs.
The chicken kabobs are good, too, and the cucumber and potato salads have a little to be desired for, but I ate them both. Love their garlic potato slices, and love the green beans.
The family-owned place kills me when they show their menus both on the side of the van and the online menu above: Sandwitches, esparagus, mashed patatoes and stuff like that. Give it a whirl, you won't be disappointed.
The stand is set up from 3 to 8 p.m. daily in the parking lot of a small grocery store at the corner of Moorpark and Coldwater Canyon. It is in the parking lot of M&M Market at 12903 Moorpark Street.
