Lynsey Shaw Sings at King's Head Tonight

She is working on her new album.

British singer Lynsey Shaw will be starting a residency at the King’s Head in Studio City on Thursday, Aug. 30, performing a blend of covers and originals with the odd theme night (all James Bond titles, for one) thrown in.

Hailing from Loughborough in Leicestershire, Lynsey’s performing life started in her early teens when she’d ‘make any excuse to get up on a bar stool and sing’ for her friends and anyone else who’d listen. Her big break came in 2000, when she became part of Girls@Play, a shortlived five-piece girl group guided by the super-successful producing duo of Mike Stock and Matt Aitken. The group released two singles, both of which made the UK Top 30, and also supported Hear’Say and Steps on their arena tours in 2000/2001.

After the band parted company in late 2001, Lynsey concentrated on solo projects and song writing before joining Mixed Feelings, one of Britain’s leading functions bands. This brought a diary of gigs, week in and week out. The band played throughout the UK and Europe, as well as in the Middle East and on cruise ships in the Mediterranean and Baltic.

Lynsey made the move to Hollywood after visiting for the first time in 2010. “I knew straight away that I wanted to live, sing and write here,” she says. “It’s one of the biggest hubs for creativity and entertainment, in all its forms. It’s a melting pot of talent and I wanted to be part of that and see where my very own LA story would take me.”

Lynsey is currently working on her debut solo album ‘Breathing’, expected to be released ‘very soon’.
