NBC-Universal Super Bowl Party Benefits Local Charity

OUT@NBCUniversal's Official Super Bowl Party Raises Much Needed Funds For L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's Youth Mentoring Program

As football fans gear up for the big game, Los Angeles residents prepare to do something they excel at: raise money for a good cause.  OUT@NBCUniversal, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Straight Ally Employee Alliance at the award-winning media behemoth, is teaming up with Rain Nightclub, the Valley’s first upscale gay nightclub, to score a touchdown for the new OUTSET Film Mentoring Program. “Our relationship with the community is very important to us, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be hosting this event,” says Rain Nightclub proprietor Mathieu McBee.

“Rain is a brand new nightclub, and we want our patrons to know that we are about giving back to the community that supports us.”  McBee, and his business partner Maurice Safizadeh, say they plan to make Rain Nightclub a year-round home to charitable events like this one.

LifeWorks, the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's development and mentoring program for LGBTQ youth, has partnered with OUTFEST (an organization dedicated to showcasing, nurturing and preserving LGBT film images and artistry) to create “OUTSET,” a short film program which allows small groups of LGBTQ youth from the LifeWorks program to shoot, edit and screen their own short films.  The young people who have been selected to participate in this innovative, new program will create a short film that will be screened at the Fusion Film Festival in March and again at the Outfest  Film Festival in July. The OUTSET classes are taught by industry professionals who provide youth hands-on tools to write, shoot and edit their own films.  Additional information on this program can be found at www.modelsofpride.org/lifeworks.
