Century City’s Take A Bao has taken over Kung Pao Bistro with a targeted opening date in August or September. Owner Brent Stein says it’ll be the “first freestanding Take A Bao with a larger menu” — with baos full of all kinds of stuffings, rice bowls, noodles and more. According to Stein, they will have a seasoned chef from New York who is retooling the menu with a price point which will remain affordable (nothing over $14), as well as an extensive beer and wine program and parking for 20 plus cars. They are currently doing a massive overhaul of the space led by architect and interior designer Ana Henton of Mass Architecture. Kung Pao Bistro has moved a few blocks east on Ventura Boulevard to 11402 Ventura Boulevard (at Tujunga), where it recently replaced Fat Jack’s.

An exclusive Hugo's recipe, it’s a non-dairy, soft-serve-like dessert in Caramel or Scharffen Berger Chocolate flavors, served in single flavors, swirl, cup or waffle cone ($2.28). Also, don't forget Burrito Wednesday at Hugo's Tacos. Get a burrito for half price (limit five). Check out Facebook for the special code name of the day.
