Ventura Boulevard was backed up in both directions Friday night as people pulled in to go to Rusty's for the 17th annual costume competition and party.
The Handy Family from Studio City came in a hula outfit—at least Ruby did, and their daughter Rachel, said mom Stacey.
Julie Chadwick from the Pepper Foundation, which rescues animals with special needs, dressed up like a cat and brought two of their rescue dogs, Tali and Flower, and her friend Sibon Carmean.
"This is a lot of fun, and the costumes get quite elaborate,"Chadwick said.
Plenty of free samples were handed out, as well as sushi.
