Stephanie Levy and Her Brother Say Good-Bye to Studio Sub, and Welcome Henry's Tacos

When they heard of Henry's Tacos problems, they contacted Janis Hood for a close alternative.

The last day of Studio Sub was, in fact, bittersweet.

"I had so many people come by to say good-bye after the Patch story came out," said Stephanie Levy. "I will truly miss the people of Studio City."

But she's not leaving Studio City. She lives here, and will continue to, and Stephanie plans to help send people to different parts of the world as a consultant to book trips to safaris in Africa and the Amazon region in South America.

"I love those areas, I love to travel, and I hope people will see areas like that and want to preserve the animals there," Levy said. "It truly is a passion of mine, I'd love to take my nephew there before it's all gone."

Likewise, when Henry's Tacos had leasing problems, Stephanie and her brother Michael figured it may be time to pack it in and offer their space half a block away to the famous taco stand that was getting all the press.

Janis Hood said, "The owners of Studio Sub were nice enough to think of Henry's when they made the difficult decision to close."

Hood recalls the Firehouse and Barnaby's burger joint that once was at the same place where Studio Sub is in Tujunga Village, only half a block away from the corner where Henry's stood for more than half a century.

Brothers Omar and Gil Vega, who worked with Hood at Henry's Tacos, are hoping to reopen the gringo taco stand by mid-March at the new location.

"We are working hard to make a smooth transition and keep it going just the same as always," Omar Vega told Patch.

Meanwhile, Stephanie said she doesn't plan to go back to the advertising/marketing dot-com world, but the world of helping animals. She worked at a sub shop when she was 16, with her brother, and they had a good time doing it back then. They had a good time this time around, too, but she's ready to try something new.

And, her head chef, Dan Yob, of the Last Great Nation, has its first album hitting YouTube on March 1. (Hear a sampling here.)

People can reach Stephanie at SafariStef@gmail.com.

I wish the media had countered Garcetti's claims with an examination of the facts and had exposedRead More his relationship with BIG development. Only the LA Weekly covered these stories--keep reading it and keep posting.

Oh, it was under announcements and not opinion so that is why I did not understand the post whichRead More appeared as facts.

I attended N.H.H.S. in the mid-seventies. Mr. Reeves and Mr. Moelter were two of my favorites.Read More Loved Mr. McLeroy for Sociology.

great article Mary! Ms. Korney, she sometimes scared me to death! But always around christmas IRead More think of her and pronounce my letters clearly at the end of a word when I sing. I can still remember the song I had to sing for my final, "If ever I would leave you..." She taught me a lot. I agree with everything you said about Mr. Reeves. I had Mr. Pesin for Algebra, he did nothing to help further my math skills. The biggest flirt around, ick. We had a girl in school at the time that flirted her way to an A and hardly ever went to class. Go figure!! I also thought quite highly of Ms. Requiam. Glad she's still around.
