area saw a 6.5 percent increase in new jobs, some of which could be
attributed to more construction activity and the issuance of building
permits for multifamily residences.
“This is very much a good
news/bad news report,” said economist Christopher Thornberg of Beacon
Economics, which discovered the numbers in a recent study. “Overall, the
city economy is improving, but the growth is very uneven and has not
spread to all parts of the city.”
