Tasty Tidbits: Karen Young's Valley Restaurant and Food Round Up

Find out what's in, what's out, and specials around town in this roundup of restaurant news around the San Fernando Valley

From French to British: As fast as new restaurants are surfacing in the 818 (especially those with westside pedigree), some old ones are saying adieu.  Pinot Bistro, part of Joachim Splichal's The Patina Group, which has been a Studio City fixture for 20 years, closed shop on February 19 due to the lease ending. Santa Monica's popular Ye Olde King's Head, a restaurant, pub and shop carrying British goods, will takes its place.

Having an Oscar party? Make it extra special with Sweet Butter Kitchen in Sherman Oaks. They'll have hand decorated Oscar cookies (yes, shaped like Oscar!) in addition to a full display of cookies, cakes, bars, petit fours, French macarons....and more. Check out the Winter Catering Menu online, or choose a variety of platters, including french sandwiches, crudite, cheese, fruit, mediterranean and charcuterie. For appetizers, there's such choices as guacamole with homemade lime tortilla chips and blue cheese dip with homemade potato chips. Make sure your order is placed 48 hours ahead.

Breakfast for dinner? Indulge at Hugo's in Agoura, Studio City and West Hollywood. A select menu includes Chilaquiles, Pasta Mama (the original with eggs), Pasta Papa (the super duper with bacon and chicken sausage), Pasta Emilia (avocado, tomato and cilantro), Red Pozole and Eggs, Herbed Omelette, Desayuno Fuerte (two poached eggs over potato pancakes with sauteed spinach and parmesean), Breakfast Salad, BYO Omelette or Scramble, Chipotle Scramble and Protein Scramble.

Get comedy and BBQ with Smoke City Market in Sherman Oaks on Thursday, February 23  when the eatery hosts the Gary Garver Radio Show from 7 p.m.-8 p.m., followed by a live Comedy Night.

Every Wednesday Night starting at 5 p.m. is Wine Down Wednesday at Spark Woodfire Grill in Studio City. 50% off select bottles of wine. The selection of over 50 wines changes weekly.

Dear tbs, Deon Coles black box is the worst tv show ever. Though it is hosted by a black man, it'sRead More a show based on pointing fun and rude Racist jokes directed toward black people. If there was a white host it would be considered racist but because a black man was appointed to be host , you might have figured we wouldn't be offended but we are and I can't speak for all but I feel like resist jokes aren't ok regardless of who is telling them and I would like tbs to take down this show or atleast change the points in the show ! -signed, Kalil Stimpson
