The Aces of Cakes in the 818?
Well, not quite, but we do have a pretty good simulation with who is now adding specialty cakes to their sweet repertoire. In addition to baked goods, they also just started serving cookie ice cream sandwiches in six flavors, including: Red Velvet, Pecan Maple with Pralines & Cream, Double chocolate with Mint Chip, Chocolate Chip with vanilla, and latest trendy flavor of all, Caramel and Sea Salt.Located in the Studio City Trader Joes Center.
Little Izaka-ya by Katsu-ya opened quietly last month in Sherman Oaks, replacing Sushi Fukyo on Sepulveda just south of Ventura. It’s the third branch of the West 3rd Street and Manhattan Beach restaurants and joins Katsuya Uechi’s other restaurants, Katsu-ya in Studio City and Encino. In addition to sushi, there is a good selection of fish, meat and noodle dishes, plus a larger sake menu—and of course, the specials for which Katsu-ya is known. 4517 Sepulveda Blvd., Sherman Oaks, (818) 789-3111.
