West Hollywood's Artisan De Luxe 'Pops Up' at Sy Devore in Studio City

Vintage inspired collection has a special showcase, as well as another new exclusive line and trendy bestsellers.

Since 1944, Sy Devore has been on the cutting edge of fashion — from the glory days of the Rat Pack and Presidents to the likes of George Clooney and Brad Pitt—and now, to hosting a fashion "pop up" shop in the store with deep denim roots.  Plus, as always, exclusive lines and trendy hot sellers.

The "pop up" shop in Sy Devore is from Artisan De Luxe which has a brick and mortar boutique, design studio and warehouse on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood. Sy Devore owner Danny Marsh says that his store carried a few Artisan pieces, but through August they’ll be hosting an exclusive collection of this unique, vintage-inspired line that’s the creative brainchild of designer Phillipe Naouri, who launched Antik Denim.  Along with his business partner and CEO,  Jay Furrow, who grew Joes Jeans, Naouri designs small batch clothing for men and women.

The Artisan De Luxe line available at Sy Devore includes jeans, shirts, tees, scarves and handbags for both men and women. Denim is specially treated with washes making each item unique in terms of the color and the patterning.  Naouri’s current collection combines patchwork, suede, canvas and embroidery, as well as bejeweled and studded accessories on plaid, denim and plain cotton, to complete an upscale boho chic look.   Hobo type handbags are handmade and make a strong statement in terms of color.  Prices run from  $88 for a tee to $495 for a handmade handbag.

In addition to the Artisan De Luxe "pop up," Sy Devore is also exclusively carrying jeans and a leather coat from Jean Shop NY.  According to Marsh, the only other stores that carry the line outside the Greenwich Village store are Barney’s, Bergdorf Goodman and a couple boutiques in Boston and Florida.  Jeans are handmade and each pair is dated upon completed.  Jean aficionados will appreciate the pants are sewn with Japanese vintage salvage in orange label ($395).   The buttery soft lambskin leather car coat is vintage leather that washed after it is sewn to create a crumply, worn, classic look ($1500).

In addition to these exclusive lines, Sy Devore’s best selling items this season are AG cargo pants that fit all shapes and sizes with a trimmer look ($225) as well as a line from Italy called RA RE (Rag Recycled) which designs very popular denim and cotton shirts ($205-$295).

Marsh says that he doesn’t like carrying clothes with outside labels such as Lacoste and Ralph Lauren, but does take exception with Psycho Bunny polo shirts with the whimsical logo. The shirt is available is a constantly changing array of colors.

Sy Devore specializes in denim, tees, dress shirts, trendy casual shirts, custom made suits as well as off the rack. Designers and collections include Paul Smith, Jack Victor, Isaia, Ermenegildo Zegna, Canali, Hugo Boss, Etro, True Religion, 7 for All Mankind, Agave and more. There’s a select shoe lines including, Certo, Donald Pliner, Hush Puppies and Paul Smith.

I wish the media had countered Garcetti's claims with an examination of the facts and had exposedRead More his relationship with BIG development. Only the LA Weekly covered these stories--keep reading it and keep posting.

great article Mary! Ms. Korney, she sometimes scared me to death! But always around christmas IRead More think of her and pronounce my letters clearly at the end of a word when I sing. I can still remember the song I had to sing for my final, "If ever I would leave you..." She taught me a lot. I agree with everything you said about Mr. Reeves. I had Mr. Pesin for Algebra, he did nothing to help further my math skills. The biggest flirt around, ick. We had a girl in school at the time that flirted her way to an A and hardly ever went to class. Go figure!! I also thought quite highly of Ms. Requiam. Glad she's still around.
