Zach's Cafe to Close After 18 Years

The Studio City staple has a loyal local customer base, and its owner is searching out a new home for his catering business.

After 18 years at 10820 Ventura Boulevard, Zach's Cafe in Studio City will close its doors around or on Nov. 25, according to its owner.

"It's sad," said Matt DeMasi. "I'm trying to find a kitchen to continue my catering company."

DeMasi said the North Hollywood Arts District and the surging food truck business are linked to the reason to shutter his staple hub in Studio City.

"About 85 percent of my customers were repeat," he said. "I want to thank them for all their support over the years."

Tucked back from the street, Zach's Cafe, with its catchy circular orange sign and cozy inside and outside seating layout was "kind of a hideaway," DeMasi added. He said he had two customers, Brent and Meg, who would come for dinner every Friday night and sit at the same table and order their favorite pizza.

For those interested in lending DeMasi a hand with his catering business, he can be reached at 818-512-2097 or by email at catering@zachscafe.com.

DeMasi said Sun Cafe, located on Cahuenga Boulevard, will be taking over his space.
