Flair Cleaners Enlists Customers to Salute Our Military by Donating Items

It's all for Flair Care Packages in Partnership with the USO Greater Los Angeles Area.

  • Flair Care Packages benefit more than 60,000 military and their families served by the USO Greater Los Angeles Area; customers receive a 50% off certificate as a thank you for supporting troops May 14 -27, 2012
  • Veterans and active duty military offered five pieces of complimentary cleaning over Memorial Day weekend, May 25 – 27, 2012
  • Flair Cleaners recognizes patriots year-round with military discounts and complimentary flag cleaning

To commemorate Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day and to pay tribute to America’s military, Flair Cleaners, Southern California’s leading eco-friendly dry cleaning business, announced its second annual Flair Care Packages drive, beginning May 14, in conjunction with the USO Greater Los Angeles Area.  In addition, Flair Cleaners announced that it will clean or launder up to five shirts, blouses or pants for active duty military and veterans at no charge May 25 - 27, 2012, Memorial Day weekend. These programs are in addition to Flair’s year-round military discount and complimentary flag cleaning.

“Our family has a long-standing commitment of supporting our military that started with free flag cleaning and substantial discounts for servicemen and women more than 50 years ago and continues to this day,” said owner Gary Futterman.  “It is our privilege to support our servicemen and women, and our veterans, whether ensuring they look and feel their best, collecting much needed supplies for the USO, or ensuring that throughout Southern California clean flags fly in their honor.”

Flair Care Packages Drive

Based on the extraordinary success of the 2011 drive, Flair Cleaners opted to make the Flair Care Packages collection an annual event to help the USO’s effort to send much-needed supplies to soldiers stationed both here and abroad.  Residents and businesses throughout Southern California are being enlisted to bring in supplies for active duty military personnel that will offer a “touch-of-home,” regardless of where they are deployed.  Donations can be brought to any of the five Flair Cleaners locations – Burbank, Studio City, Valencia, Santa Monica, and Redondo Beach – May 14 through Memorial Day weekend.  Everyone who donates will receive a certificate for 50% off dry cleaning as a thank you for their support.  Needed items include water and individually packaged snacks, personal hygiene supplies, music, and CDs.  A complete list can be found on the Flair Cleaners Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/flairdrycleaners, and website, www.FlairCleaners.com

“The USO Greater Los Angeles Area, which serves more than 60,000 military personnel and their families annually, is delighted to once again partner with the patriots at Flair Cleaners in this drive for our troops,” said Barbara Musella, center manager of the USO - Greater Los Angeles Area. “The leadership of businesses like Flair Cleaners in rallying our communities’ generosity is vital in helping provide the USO’s famous touch of home.”

With all due respect, Mr. Ortiz, I'm curious about how much you sell the puppies for, do you screenRead More the potential buyers, do you take back a dog if the buyer can no longer care for it, what happens to those dogs that are not bought? I ask these questions because I volunteer at animal shelters and often see purebred dogs being dumped by people who say they cannot commit to the pet. In fact, a purebred Dachshund was recently dumped at the South L.A. shelter. When unwanted dogs and cats are abandoned at shelters and they become overcrowded, innocent animals are being killed to make room. I also recently met two people who "rescued" their dogs from breeders who determined that a puppy from a litter was "not perfect" and could not be shown or used for breeding. One puppy was taken to a vet to be put down, but the vet would not do it and instead gave it to a couple he knew would care for it. The other dog was simply given away, thankfully to a person who is caring and adores the dog. The puppies you are advertising are adorable and I hope they go to loving, responsible, committed people. I also hope you understand where I am coming from and why I urge people to adopt a pet from a shelter. I stand by the slogan "Adopt, don't shop."

I wish the media had countered Garcetti's claims with an examination of the facts and had exposedRead More his relationship with BIG development. Only the LA Weekly covered these stories--keep reading it and keep posting.

Presumptuous? What about my "endorsement" is presumptuous. You don't really need toRead More respond😃, I just didn't understand the comment.

great article Mary! Ms. Korney, she sometimes scared me to death! But always around christmas IRead More think of her and pronounce my letters clearly at the end of a word when I sing. I can still remember the song I had to sing for my final, "If ever I would leave you..." She taught me a lot. I agree with everything you said about Mr. Reeves. I had Mr. Pesin for Algebra, he did nothing to help further my math skills. The biggest flirt around, ick. We had a girl in school at the time that flirted her way to an A and hardly ever went to class. Go figure!! I also thought quite highly of Ms. Requiam. Glad she's still around.
