Injured Hiker Rescued from Runyon Canyon

Firefighters airlifted an injured hiker in serious condition from the Hollywood Hills, a city fire official said.

It was not immediately known what caused the hiker's injuries, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles City Fire Department.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to 3050 Runyon Canyon Road at 12:11 p.m., Scott said. Trails in that area, west of the Hollywood Bowl, are steep and often cause injuries to hikers.
