Latest Details on How to Navigate Coldwater Canyon-geddon Shutdown

See the detailed fact sheet provided by Councilman Paul Krekorian.

The Department of Water and Power and Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Krekorian are trying to ease the impact as much as possible when the major corridor connecting the San Fernando Valley to the rest of Los Angeles is shut down during the daytime for nearly a month beginning in March.

Coldwater Canyon Boulevard will be closed during the daytime six days a week, causing what one Studio City Neighorhood Council member coined as "Canyon-geddon"—especially for the Studio City, Sherman Oaks and Beverly Hills areas.

The Sherman Oaks and Studio City Neighborhood Councils, Studio City Residents Association and of course Patch have all agreed to help get the word out and explain the best alternate routes for people facing traffic snarls.

Many readers have contacted Patch to ask if there are ways to protest or stop the pending closures or construction, and the short answer is "No."

Krekorian pointed out that the 60-inch pipeline that is being replaced is nearly 100 years old, and he said, "If we deal with this now at this time we won't have to deal with again for another 100 years."

The problems with the old infrastructure has led to flooding and power outages along Ventura Boulevard over the past years and this should help alleviate those issues.

Here are the latest details, and attached is a fact sheet released by Krekorian's office.
