Powerball Coming to California! Where You Can Stand in Line in Studio City

What would you have done with the prize money?

Okay, so it's a little anti-climactic that California doesn't participate in Powerball, but isn't it fun to dream about winning the nearly $580 million jackpot?

CNN reported Wednesday night that tickets containing the winning numbers—5, 23, 16, 22, 29 and the Powerball 6—were sold in nearby Arizona and in Missouri.

According to the Los Angeles Times, state residents drove or flew to one of the other 42 participating states to snatch up a potential winner. Maybe next time it climbs high, the newspaper reported California residents may not have to travel far since the state lottery commission is expected to adopt regulations to join Powerball. Retailers could start selling tickets as soon as April.

To play, you must pick five unique numbers from 1 through 59, and a Powerball number from 1 through 35. The jackpot increases by $10 million if no one wins during a drawing; in this case, no one had won since Oct. 6.

Assuming that the same places that sells lottery tickets now will sell them next year, here are the places that you can buy the Powerball tickets locally (click on the place for address and map locations):
