Rain Expected All Day, but Don't Bring Umbrellas to the Game

Only ponchos will be allowed in to the Rose Bowl.

With steady, light rain falling, Rose Bowl officials urged the 90,000-plus fans headed to today's UCLA-USC game to wear ponchos.

"Umbrellas are prohibited from the stadium, as they block the view if those behind them," said William Boyer, a spokesman for the City of Pasadena.

The forecast for the 12 noon kickoff was for showers, light winds, and a temperature of about 62 degrees.

Grant Miles of Studio City Weather reports that showers are likely throughout the day and the day's rainfall as of 9:30 a.m. is .05 inches.

The National Weather Service predicts an 80 percent chance of rain and highs only around 66 degrees. Rain is likely throughout the day and until 10 p.m.

The weather prompted the Rose Bowl officials to notify the Bruin and Trojan fans of the "no-umbrella" policy.
