Hyun Jun Park Inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is pleased to announce that Hyun Jun Park of Studio City was recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi--the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Park is pursuing a degree in Psychology at University of Massachusetts.

Park is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff, and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine and headquartered in Baton Rouge, La., Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline honor society. The Society has chapters on more than 300 college and university campuses in North America and the Philippines. Its mission is "To recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others."

Kevin Cachia and Heather Penrod Earn Degrees from California Lutheran University

The following local residents earned graduate degrees from California Lutheran University:

Kevin Cachia of Studio City received a Master of Science degree in information systems and management.

Heather Penrod of Studio City received a Doctor of Education degree in educational leadership.

CLU is a selective university located in Thousand Oaks, Calif., with centers in Oxnard, Woodland Hills and Santa Maria for graduate courses and its Adult Degree Evening Program. With an enrollment of 4,200 students, CLU offers undergraduate and graduate programs within the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Management and Graduate School of Education. Doctoral degrees in educational leadership, higher education leadership and clinical psychology are also offered. Lena Beth Kelly of Studio City Named to Dean's List at Washington University in St. Louis

Lena Beth Kelly of Studio City, was named to the Dean's List at Washington University in St. Louis. Kelly is enrolled in the university's College of Arts & Sciences.

To qualify for the Dean's List in the College of Arts & Sciences, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.6 or above and be enrolled in at least 14 graded units.

Washington University is counted among the world's leaders in teaching and research, and it draws students and faculty to St. Louis from all 50 states and more than 120 nations. The total student body is more than 14,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students.

 

Maxwell Schad Earns Place on Dean's List at Berklee College of Music

Berklee College of Music announces that Maxwell Schadof Studio City has earned placement on the Dean's List for the fall semester of the 2012 academic year. To be eligible for this honor, a full-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or above; a part-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.6 or above.

Berklee College of Music was founded on the revolutionary principle that the best way to prepare students for careers in music was through the study and practice of contemporary music.
