Bryan Chan and Friends Music Showcase

We are set for another night of music at Jumpcut Café (formally Lulu’s Beehive) at 13203 Ventura Blvd Studio City 91604  Oct 19th between 6pm and 10pm.. This will be, as always, an up close and intimate performance.  Jump Cut Cafe serves awesome coffee drinks, sandwiches, soups, salads and taste treats. There will be no cover charge for this event. The line up for the night is as follows.

6pm to 6:30pm---Simon Lucas
Simon is a ‘folky’ from England. He has been in the U.S.A. for 30 years but still
speaks funny. He collects stringed instruments, some of which he can even play. He normally plays guitar, but has been known to pick up a string bass, dulcimer, cuatro or marxophone. He has a deep voice and sings a mixture of Irish, Scottish, Country and anything else he hears that he likes. He also has a stock of amusing songs, which sometimes he can be bribed into singing. He refuses to make CDs, so if you want to hear him, you will have to find him onstage playing live.

6:30pm to 7pm--- David Staller
What's a David Staller? He's an American original wild rockin man with a percussive acoustic sound that came about from being a frustrated drummer. His influences range from the Adolescents to Abba to AC/DC and the Bee Gees.

7pm to 7:30---John Wesley Annas
When was the last time you heard John Wesley Annas?  I mean besides Do You Like Boobs A Lot on Dr. Demento’s Top Ten with the Holy Modal Rounders? Were you there listening to him do Alligator Man on acid at Carnegie Hall or at Lincoln Center for Sam Shepard’s Operation Sidewinder?  Seems like a long time ago…he’s been through Nashville and a whole lot of other places since then…ever hear him do George Jones or Merle Haggard?  …and he’s got those originals like I Miss You But I’m Still Glad You’re Gone…he’s been hanging out in Claremont and Covina too long…you’ll love it…come on down…

7:30pm to 8pm--- Bryan Chan
Bryan Chan always trying to achieve the goal of giving blues music the heart, soul and respect it deserves. Competed at the 2009 International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN.

Paul Zollo is a singer-songwriter from Chicago. A Trough Records artist, he's finishing up his first album for the label, Universal Cure. His previous indie album was Orange Avenue, and featured a duet with Art Garfunkel. The former leader of the L.A. band The Ghosters, he's co-written songs with many greats, including Steve Allen, Severin Browne, James Coberly Smith, Darryl Purpose and Bob Malone. Zollo's also a photo-journalist and the author of several books, including Conversations with Tom Petty, Hollywood Remembered and Songwriters On Songwriting.

8:30pm to 9pm--- Carrie Wade
Carrie’s music has attracted listeners hungry for songs where expectations are heightened, making a number of her songs off of her debut album The Old Ways popular staples of terrestrial and internet radio stations. Other recognitions include a Los Angeles Music Awards’ nod for Adult Alternative Female Singer/Songwriter of the Year for her song “It’s Just Blood” and positive reviews of The Old Ways from Leicester Bangs of the UK, Roots Time of Belgium, Bluerailroad.com and LaExaminer.com.  Her song “Needles in the Waves” spent some time opening the Folk Channel program on all Lufthansa Airlines’ international flights and an acoustic version of “Broken Soldier” (not on the album) was featured on Neil Young’s “Living with War Today” chart.
