Bryan Chan and Friends Music Showcase

We are set for another night of music at Jump Cut Café (formerly Lulu’s Beehive) at 13203 Ventura Blvd Studio City 91604  Feb. 22nd between 6pm and 10pm.. This will be, as always, an up close and intimate performance.  Jump Cut Cafe serves awesome coffee drinks, sandwiches, soups, salads and taste treats. There will be no cover charge for this event. The line up for the night is as follows.
 
6pm to 6:30pm--- Jack Thorne
Jack Thorne is a singer songwriter but, his passion lies in being a song interpreter. His influences are many but, Van Morrison, Nick Drake, and Dylan come to mind. With a music theater background, he has performed in several venues over the years in his native L.A. area. His recent project is interpreting The Beatles ’”Rubber Soul” LP.
 
6:30pm to 7pm--- Pat Nason
A native of Baltimore, Pat is developing a reputation in the LA singer-songwriter community for well-crafted original songs that deliver keen observation of life with humor, wit and depth of feeling. He is a news editor for United Press International, where he covered the entertainment beat in Los Angeles. As a double major at Towson University in Maryland, Pat earned a B.S. degree in Mass Communication and in Theater Arts.

7:00pm to 7:30pm--- Natasha Wood
Natasha Wood, songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, has been writing and playing music since childhood. Coming from a Brazilian family on her mom’s side, she grew up listening to the great samba and bossa nova legends and fell in love with playing Brazilian music. Inspired by her international travels, passion for creative writing, and foundation in classical and jazz music, she is a prolific songwriter whose compositions are a unique blend of samba, bossa nova, jazz, folk, world, rock, and soul, that tell stories through poetic and inventive lyrics. Natasha’s compositions are ever changing as she carves out a new and exciting musical niche. She is currently recording her second album and can be heard performing at venues in and around her hometown of Los Angeles. Natasha divides her time between making music and working as a shelter veterinarian who cares for homeless and unwanted pets of every size, shape, and form.
 
7:30pm to 8pm--- Bryan Chan
Bryan Chan always trying to achieve the goal of giving blues music the heart, soul and respect it deserves. Competed at the 2009 International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN.

8:00pm to 8:30pm---Mark Brainard          www.markbrainard.com
Mark was born into music. His father was a big band musician who played with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Mark has played in a classic rock band for 30 years around the L.A. area, and is also a singer songwriter who loves a good hook. He released a folk pop CD “Life In Java” in 2005 with duet partner Tim Russell. He has now just authored his first book “A Musician’s Son” (lyrics, poems, and memoirs) and will be sharing songs and stories close to his heart. Think British folk meets Southern California.
 
8:30pm to 9pm--- Luanne Behm and Malcolm Orrall
Luanne and Malcolm are longtime friends and musical collaborators who joined forces to create this guitar based singer-songwriter duo, and are drawing increased attention for their emotionally powerful vocal blend and rich harmonies.

9:00pm to 9:30pm--- Carrie Wade
Carrie’s music has attracted listeners hungry for songs where expectations are heightened, making a number of her songs off of her debut album The Old Ways popular staples of terrestrial and internet radio stations. Other recognitions include a Los Angeles Music Awards’ nod for Adult Alternative Female Singer/Songwriter of the Year for her song “It’s Just Blood” and positive reviews of The Old Ways from Leicester Bangs of the UK, Roots Time of Belgium, Bluerailroad.com and LaExaminer.com.  Her song “Needles in the Waves” spent some time opening the Folk Channel program on all Lufthansa Airlines’ international flights and an acoustic version of “Broken Soldier” (not on the album) was featured on Neil Young’s “Living with War Today” chart.
