California: The Road Ahead, Progress and Challenges, A Perspective from John A. Pérez, Speaker of the Assembly

California is home to the world’s eighth largest economy, surpassing India, Italy, and the Russian Federation, with a GDP that has grown a full percentage higher than the nation as a whole. The Los Angeles basin, with its $925 billion economic contribution, continues as a major force. Industries are innovating faster than ever and Californians, traditionally early adopters of technology and other trends, are responding. California’s increasing global significance places the state and its citizens in a prominent and exciting position.

The Hon. John A. Pérez, Speaker of the Assembly, will discuss California’s success to date and what is on the horizon for our bellwether state. He will address how California can maintain and expand its economic prosperity through an educated workforce, living wages, health care accessibility, and a business friendly environment.
