Misha Dichter, piano, and Glenn Dicterow, violin, will share the stage with some of YMF’s rising stars: YMF Debut Concerto Competition winners Gabriel Sears, tuba; Geneva Lewis, violin; and Tristan Paradee, piano.  The concert program includes Bernstein’s Overture to Candide, Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins, Williams’ Concerto for Tuba, Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals, and selections from Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite.

Both Misha Dichter, internationally-renowned concert pianist, and Glenn Dicterow, New York Philharmonic Concertmaster, are YMF alumni returning to the thriving classical music community that set in motion their remarkable careers.   Gabriel Sears, winner of the YMF Debut Concerto Competition, is a student at the Colburn School Conservatory of Music and quickly establishing himself as a leader among the new generation of brass musicians.  Both Geneva Lewis and Tristan Paradee are recipients of the YMF Discovery Prize, which is reserved for stellar young virtuosi age 15 or younger.

The Debut Orchestra is YMF’s flagship program, established in 1955.  Young musicians ages 15 to 25 are selected annually following a rigorous audition process.  The orchestra is led by Roger Kalia, Music Director and Conductor, now in the second year of his three-year term.  Thousands of Debut Orchestra alumni have gone on to become members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and many other orchestras in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
