Description:
Armando Compean blends jazz and blues with natural ease, learned from his Texas roots as the leader of his own Rhythm & Blues band in Houston’s vibrant club scene — backing many great Blues Legends including Bobby “Blue” Bland, Albert Collins and Johnny Copeland. Since moving to L.A., he has worked on numerous television and film scores with Grammy and Oscar winning producer, T. Bone Burnett.

Armando’s bass playing and singing can be heard on recordings by Gillian Welch, A.J. Croce, T-Bone Burnett, Taj Mahal, Jennifer Warnes, Coco Montoya, and Jon Hartman; as well as two of his own critically acclaimed CDs, "Just For a Thrill" and "Texas Brown Soul Zone." Armando has performed with blues greats Lowell George, Johnny and Edgar Winter, Scott Ellison, Ornette Cobb, Jimmy Ford, Lanny Morgan, and the Texacali Horns — to name a few. He recently finished working on the PBS featured documentary series, "Over America" and "Over California."
