"Turn the World Around" A Concert Honoring Musician John Cartwright

The first in a new concert series, "Turn the World Around" honors those who shared their musical talent freely.  The first to be feted is musician John Cartwright who played upright bass for Harry Belafonte for 35 years.  The concert is a multi-cultural musical event and will feature percussionists led by Steve Reid (SuperTramp, The Rippingtons.)  Also performing are Terry Cano (Musical Director,) Tracy Newman and the Reinforcements, Freebo, Severin Browne, Ed Tree, Shanna O'Brien, John O'Kennedy, Gary Stockdale, Mark Goldberg, David Stone, Mara Wells, Vincente Reyes, Stacy Robin, Jack Sollecito and Eric Kufs.

Cartwright also served as Belafonte's tour manager and General Manager of Belafonte Enterprises and also managed other musicians such as Diane Reeves, Cassandra Wilson and Luther Vandross.  Today, at age 75, Cartwright still performs with Tracy Newman and the Reinforcements, Shanna O'Brien and with other musical groups and events. Proceeds will go to the Denise Roberts Breast Cancer Foundation in honor of Cartwright's daughter, Nadgia James, who succumbed to breast cancer in 2008.  Tickets are $24 online through Brown Paper TIckets, or $30 at the door.  Visit the Facebook page here or the website here.  The event is produced in conjunction with 2nd Side Adventures, LLC.
