The 45th Assembly District, which constitutes primarily the San Fernando Valley West of the 405, is having a special election to fill the Assembly seat vacated by Bob Blumenfeld when he was elected to the City Council.
There are 7 Democrats, 1 No Party Preference and 3 Republicans running for the office. As a Republican, I am presenting in this article information about the 3 Republican candidates running. They are Susan Shelley, Chris Kolski and Armineh Chelebian. You can visit the website of each candidate by clicking on their name.
A 2/3 vote is required for the Republican Party to endorse a candidate, and since none of the candidates received a 2/3 vote to endorse, none of them have been endorsed by the Republican Party. All are good candidates.
I suggest that you visit their websites and see where they stand on the issues and select the candidate you feel would best represent you in the State Assembly.
The San Fernando Valley Republican Club held a candidate forum on August 6th. The video tape of that forum is on YouTube. You can watch the video here and see the candidates to determine which one you want to support.
Most importantly, after you have selected your candidate in the 45th Assembly District Special Election, PLEASE VOTE FOR THAT CANDIDATE.
If you have any specific questions for a candidate, please contact them on their website.
