SCOTT JONES OF STUDIO CITY BASED ARTIST VIEW ENTERTAINMENT IS EXCITED ABOUT THE 2013 AMERICAN FILM MARKET

The American Film Market has arrived again to Santa Monica Loews Beach Hotel and runs from Wednesday, November 6 to Wednesday, November 13, 2013.  It’s a huge event that only happens once a year where lots of films and other media gets bought and sold from around the world.

Attending this year’s AFM is Scott Jones president of Studio City based Artist View Entertainment so I decided to find out how he plans to make it a big success.

GIL: What benefits do you get from being based in Studio City?

SCOTT: I felt that if we were going to be located in the Valley it was very central to all of the other areas in our business (Burbank, Sherman Oaks, Encino etc.) and there was also plenty of easy access into Beverly Hills and Hollywood. Because the location is so centralized it’s convenient to have meetings at our office and get to meetings that are in most areas of the City.

GIL:  Give us a brief description of Artist View Entertainment.

SCOTT: For the past 22 years Artist View has represented independent feature films on a worldwide basis. We have a large library of films that is comprised of a wide range of genres and budget levels, The company exhibits at eight (8) international TV & Film markets each year and acquires 15 – 20 titles each year.

GIL: What are you expecting from this year's AFM?

SCOTT: There are always new contacts to be made at AFM. We always look forward to seeing are well established relationships there and are never disappointed with the new buyers and producers we meet during our week in Santa Monica each year.

GIL:  What new films are you bringing to this year’s AFM that you are excited about? And Why?

SCOTT:  “April Rain” and “Fatal Instinct" are the newest films we are represent on behalf of film Director Luciano Saber and though we have a terrific line up this year I think these film will place nicely for us at the market. Action films and Thrillers have always been big sellers for us and these two film are also very well cast.  Other New Releases we are selling at this year’s AFM include “IQ Supremacy”,  “Siren”, “After Midnight” and “The Takeaway”, “Assassin’s Tale”, “West End”, “Ice Agent”,  “10 Days of Destruction” and “Newlyweeds”.

GIL: How long have you been attending the American Film Market?

SCOTT: My first AFM was in 1989 so 24 years.

GIL: Compare this year to last year's AFM?

SCOTT: I honestly can’t answer that until the market has come and gone but I assume we will see a continued interest in the digital platform world and a further decrease in Video/DVD buyers.

GIL: What are your plans for the future?

SCOTT: We will continue to follow the market trends and work closely with our outstand base of Producers and Directors. The ultimate goal is to continue to keep both our Producers and Buyer happy with the services we provide.
