Community Corner

Department Of Social Services Mobile Outreach Vehicle

The Department Of Social Services Mobile Outreach Vehicle will be coming to First Christian Church of North Hollywood on Friday, January 14, 2011. This vehicle will be parked right next to the Youth Hut. This is an extended service of the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry. This unique opportunity will bring the Food Stamp application process right to our congregation and community. The interview process can also help find other support programs that you may be eligible to  receive. The truck will be on site from 9:00AM- 1:00PM.

The truck is staffed by DPSS Eligibility Workers, Clerks, and an Eligibility Supervisor who work as a team to interview the applicants and process the applications to the fullest extent possible. Because this project is definitely in its infancy, the mobile unit does not have the capability to issue Electronic Benefit Cards (EBT). EBT cards are the avenue through which our participants access their Food Stamp benefits. For those applicants who are approved for Food Stamps, the EBT will be sent to them from the District office.
