Universal CityWalk Lights Spectacular Tree for the Holidays

Santa Claus and children from L.A. Family Housing were on hand to join in the festivities in Universal City.

Universal CityWalk unwrapped the holiday season with a dynamic tree lighting celebration Dec. 5 featuring Tamar Braxton, singer, songwriter, producer and star of WE tv's hit shows "Braxton Family Values" and "Tamar & Vince" who performed a selection of songs from her hit album "Love and War" and her new holiday album, “Winter Loversland."

Santa Claus and children from L.A. Family Housing, an organization dedicated to assisting people transition out of homelessness and poverty through supportive services, were on hand to join in the festivities. L.A. Family Housing is a beneficiary of Universal Studios Hollywood’s “Discover A Star” Foundation.

Braxton, who just completed a cross-country tour with nine-time Grammy Award winner, John Legend on the heels of her #1 R&B Billboard album release, “Love & War,” shined center stage at the 5 Towers” state-of-the-art venue when she joined with Santa Claus to light CityWalk’s towering Christmand tree and mark the official start to the destination’s spirited holiday season.

The dazzling Christmas tree, densely entwined with over 100,000 brilliantly colored LED lights, cast a vibrant spectrum of colors throughout the open-air plaza as Ms. Braxton brought down the house and lifted holiday spirits with a selection of songs from her new albums.

As a local entertainment destination, enjoyed by visitors from across the globe, Universal CityWalk offers holiday programming for all to enjoy throughout the season. From Nov. 29 through Dec. 31, Universal CityWalk holidays features an energetic mix of free concert performances at the “5 Towers” stage along with an eclectic array of emerging street performers.
