Mike's 1-Year Anniversary as Editor of Patch: the Limerick

Mike's first-anniversary adventure. Congratulations!

For Mike, our Editor Dear,

Who has served us now for a year:

We praise and salute you

(and never will boot you)

You ain't goin' nowhere, you hear?

Big offers may come and may go

But you won't be as happy, you know?

Our posts you can fix

And upload our pix.

You're the best in the business. So?

We raise up our glass in a toast...

(Of course it's okay to boast)

Your issue of Patch is the BEST of the batch.

You're the guy we admire the most!

BRAVO!  Blessings and Hugs.  HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's creativity like this that permeates every pore of Studio City...thanks, i'm not even going to try to make a rhyme response (I'm saving it up for my Mr. Studio City headlines)...anyway, I'm humbled.

In the mornings it feels quite serene to read limmericks penned by Irene I wish Patch had more instead of the bore of those stuck in the past - you're the queen! Happy aniversary to Mike and to the Studio City Patch! As someone who reads it every day, I respectfully have 2 suggestions and hope it's alright to post them here. The first is I wish there were a way for us to preview our posts. The second (and more important) one... why not have a monthly contest with limmericks, haikus, etc., whereby the winner receives a gift certificate for say $25. to one of your advertisers .Irene could be the judge. It would be fun and good business, free (almost free) publicity. (My other suggestion and mind you I'm just a faithful reader who usually keeps her mouth shut, is to maybe tone it down with the remembering the 60's, 70's, etc. It's interesting if it's occassional but when some of the blogers bombard us with every single memory or every grade, etc., it's well.. pathetic after a while! You wonder how unhappy they are if that's all they can talk about and it becomes almost like a high school clique, albeit an aging one. Certainly family members can reminisce privately, no? It's so..... (Zzzzz) average! Aaah well what do I know I'm just your audience. ;) Anyway, cheers to you and a happy anniversary and here's to many more, Mike!

I love the limerick idea...I think we'd have to make Irene the judge though, she's too good to compete! As far as the comments, you are the only one who can go back and edit and change your posts after you submit, and you should be able to do that simply.
Mike Szymanski September 13, 2011 at 06:45 PM
Aha, I guess you can only DELETE your comment, not edit anymore...well, there is cut and paste.... as far as the THEN-NOW popular column, we always want people to contribute and esp. their memories, and I think people enjoy the banter back and forth, that's what we're all about!

Grazie, Merci and thank you... Now you want us to write in Haiku? As the French might say: A poem without pay Is strictly 'Chacon a son gout'.
Don Helverson November 16, 2011 at 07:01 AM
So creative, so resourceful, for missing your party, I'm so remorseful.
Mike Szymanski November 16, 2011 at 07:27 PM
Now is that a haiku or a limerick? Spoke to Walter Reed classes today for Career Day and Mr. Helverson got a big round of applause when I mentioned he wrote for Patch! Pet Peeves has a big following...among the teachers too! http://studiocity.patch.com/columns/pet-peeves
