Taking my departure from Tampa Bay I'd like to take one more shot to mention some memorable moments.
Thanks to a most gracious city who welcomed us despite the fact that most of their elected officials are Democrats. They treated us with affection and deep respect. Their police and military protected us as well as their fine citizens. They maintained a high profile and a professional attitude at all times. The Tradewinds Hotel staff and the California Delegation planning committee deserve special kudos. Kathy Tavoularis, Jasmine Megrabyan and Anthony Kuo -- you deserve medals. Special thanks to you.
Unsung hero of all Republicans -- Chairman Darrell Issa. There was more praise accorded him than any other person serving us.
Code Pinkers who disrupted Paul Ryan's speech by shouting, "Vagina -- Can't Say It? Don't legislate it!"
Congressman Arthur Davis reminding us of the styrofoam Greek columns chosen by the President Obama team as a backdrop for one of his important speeches.
Dr. Condoleezza Rice remarking about the three great shocks we have endured in the recent past: 9/11, the financial and economic crisis and the Arab Spring.
Governor Chris Christie telling us to "Speak from the heart".
If I had one small criticism to make about this architecturally splendid city with the most gorgeous beaches in the country I'd advise them to build their bridges a little higher. Other than that Tampa, 'You Rock!'
