I think I’ve learned my lesson well and that’s no POPaganda.

Just hear me out, if it’s not true, then call me Carmen Miranda.

You told me not to drink or smoke, because it’ll ruin my health.

You cautioned me to save, not spend, to multiply my wealth.

I wipe my feet and shut the door, am tolerant of jerks.

I count to ten, I pray a lot and do whatever works.

You said when bullies bother me, just smile and walk away.

So far I haven’t caused a scene.  been very good all day.

I’ve watched my words, controlled myself and haven’t kicked a shin.

You can’t imagine, Oh Mein Papa, how hard the struggle’s been.

But now you’ve got to help me – ‘cause when all is done and said,

The sun is rising slowly and I’m getting out of bed.
