Remembrance at Normandy.

We walk the beach at Normandy, my children want to play.

They’ll never know what happened here once on that fateful day.

Those brave young men we might have known who never will return

A sad long part of history too many will never learn.

The children run and catch the waves and dig into the sand.

I watch them as they walk the beach.  They’re walking hand in hand.

I think about what happened here so many years ago.

So many souls are buried here. They fought a fearsome foe.

 

Is it too late to say a prayer?   Life’s not the way we knew it.

If we could go back to simpler times I’m sure that we would do it.

The morning mist is heavy. Gray clouds are rolling by.

Memories are flooding now as I begin to cry.

 

Will history repeat itself.  Is it just a mother’s fear?

We cradle and protect our young.  Each life we know is dear.

Who will write that final line?  Who will stop the killing?

Turn it over, once again.  God’s watching, if He’s willing.

In memory of our darling daughter, Michelle Maria, who would have celebrated her birthday on June 6th.  We love you and miss you.  Don't forget to save us seats!
