You're Being Bossy.

Can any American ban a word?  I doubt it.  According to our Constitution only Congress can make laws. I happen to like the word bossy.  It’s a good strong descriptive word.  I’ve only known a few females in my lifetime that I would consider bossy.  It’s an admirable quality.   These women know themselves well, are assertive and extremely goal-oriented.  They bring clarity and honesty.

If we are being serious about censoring insensitive language, why hasn’t anybody taken up a crusade against Bill Maher’s obscenities about Sarah Palin?  Have you listened to the lyrics sung by our prominent field of rap and hip hop artists?  It’s hard to find the musical talent when you’re hit by a barrage of crude, brutal and violent profanity.

Banning the word bossy doesn’t solve any social problem.  It becomes another case of denial. Some women become so intensely  overbearing.  Why not let them know they are being bossy?   It’s an excellent remedy  to help them recognize and change a personality trait. Being bossy is not the same as being a bully  and we shouldn’t confuse the two.  Bossy women often exhibit good leadership qualities.  Whereas forcing others to conform to their way of thinking is bullying.  When a man does this, we call him a jerk, disregard it and walk away.

Yesterday the White House pastry chef resigned saying that he refused to demonize butter, eggs and sugar.  He had some personal issues he felt had become a priority as well.  I can't help but wonder Why so many elected representatives feel they have the authority to dictate what we eat, drink, drive, wear or think?  For some unexplained reason they feel they are appointed by Divine Right and authorized to dictate a one size-fits-all policy which we, their subjects, must follow.  They insist we eat fresh fruit without remembering that for some diabetics fruit can be poison.  

Are we still the land of the free and home of the brave or did somebody change the rules?  We don’t need self-appointed experts to invade our kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, living room or garage.  Knock it off!  Did it ever occur to you that when you order others to ban a word you’re being bossy?
