Wiener Dog Wednesday, Summer Travels

Include your four-legged companions when making summer travel plans. A family vacation is not complete without the whole family.

This week’s spotlight is dedicated to the inclusion and consideration of your dogs when making summer travel plans.  For many of us our dogs are part of the family unit; therefore, when planning a weekend getaway or summer road trip take your dog along.

This summer we decided the calm desert of Joshua Tree and 29 Palms would be a fun place to take the four-legged kids.  The varied small vermin running about and all the new smells proved to be very entertaining for our two doxies.  The threat of rattle snakes and coyotes forced me to be extra vigilant at dawn and
dusk, but Rufus and Emily seemed to be indifferent to any potential danger.  They were fearless and consistently curious; they were characteristically true  dachshunds with their noses to the ground much of the time.

Naturally the family dog or dogs may not be able to join us on every trip, but with some proper planning you just might be surprise how many vacation spots welcome our dogs.  Happy summer travels.
