Pleasure and 'The Heart of Desire' Book Signing with Dr. Stella Resnick

Dr. Stella Resnick will explore what cutting-edge research reveals about the everyday love life of intimate partners surrounded by "The Pleasure Principal," eight artist's interpretations of pleasure.

“Dr. Stella Resnick’s shattering new book, The Heart of Desire, is a very candid and, at times, sexually explicit text about how pleasure nurtures us as individuals and helps us thrive in life," says Jay Weston in The Huffington Post.

Why do you suppose so many people overestimate the value of talking about problems and underestimate the role of pleasure in deepening the bond in a relationship? Dr. Stella Resnick will explore what cutting-edge research reveals about the everyday love life of intimate partners. Especially, she’ll focus on:

  • How the nonverbal cues in body language, facial expression and voice, are more powerful than words in strengthening the bond between intimates.
  • How pleasure is an art with its own aesthetics.
  • How honing skills for giving and receiving pleasure can positively impact every aspect of life and loving.

Dr. Resnick’s book complements the current exhibit being presented at the beautiful Villa Berta, an artist’s retreat and gallery in Studio City. “The Pleasure Principle,”is a group show of eight Los Angeles painters who explore sensual indulgence and tranquility in their works.

As in Dr. Resnick’s book, the exhibit, curated by Charity Burnett, affirms pleasure, expressed by the id, as a basic motivating force that reduces psychic tension.
