American Red Cross to Present to the Rotary Club of Studio City/Sherman Oaks

On Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Sportsmen's Lodge Hotel, 12825 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CAMatthew J. Gilling from the American Red Cross Biomedical Services will be giving a 2-part presentation at the luncheon meeting for the Rotary Club of Studio City/Sherman Oaks.

The first part will be covering the need for blood donors in our local community; how blood is collected and the importance of having a well-stocked blood supply should we encounter a natural disaster.

The second part will be discussing how to prepare for an impending natural disaster, especially a large earthquake that is overdue to hit Southern California.  Disaster aid pamphlets will be provided to all attendees.

As an Account Manager for the Biomedical Division of the American Red Cross, Matt Gilling's job responsibilities are to call on businesses, civic organizations, churches and schools in the San Fernando Valley and convince them to sponsor blood drives.  Gilling says his job is part sales, part event planning, part project management and part logistics coordination.  "I also have over 5 years experience as a Volunteer with the Central Coast Region Chapter on their Disaster Action Team and was deployed to a national disaster in Oklahoma City back in July 2007.  I have also been a loyal blood donor since high school and have donated almost 13 gallons.", says Gilling.

Attendance is open to all Rotary Members and interested members of the community.
