Actress Wendie Jo Sperber left a tremendous legacy with WeSPARK when she died in 2005 at the age of 47 after an eight year battle with breast cancer. She created a warm, home-like environment where cancer patients and their families and friends can come for free support services that include classes and support groups for all ages.
Since its inception in 2001, WeSPARK, which is located in Sherman Oaks, has been a source of comfort and information for tens of thousands of people, including Anton Maillie, who founded the annual weSPARK 10K Run & 5K Run/Walk four years ago . This year, the event will take place at the Universal Studios backlot on Nov. 4 — and is now open for registration.
