HEALTHY GIRL - Panty Raid

Freshman year of college I tried a lot of things, one of which was putting on a thong.

Freshman year of college I tried a lot of things, one of which was putting on a thong. Prior to that, I had been very opposed to the idea, having always preferred the full-coverage briefs that kept my behind compact and in place.  I was known for my larger-than-life booty which appeared a bit out of proportion to my then thin, curve-less body.  Things have changed since then.  For example, in the recent past, I was speed walking around the Rose Bowl and a girl came up from behind and said, “Hey, I know that walk.” I think what my friend really meant, was I know that “derriere.”  My choice of underwear has also changed over the past ten years, from full coverage to barely there.

For the most part, I have grown accustom to wearing a thong, and appreciate being panty-line free.  However, I have discovered some drawbacks.  It can be uncomfortable to have a thin piece of fabric between your two cheeks for an entire work day.  When it comes to working out in them, the following concern comes to mind.  Sweat, combined with tight clothing, could lead to a yeast infection in some women.  Susceptibility could be based on your own biology, hygiene, diet, and/or the duration you have left your sweaty aerobic wear or a wet bathing suit on.  Thankfully, Lulu Lemon sells underwear made out of a special fabric. The “Premium Technikini” and “Premium Technithong” help athletic women manage sweat down there (http://reviews.lululemon.com/7834/Premium_Technikini/reviews.htm).

Or, make it a cotton thong if you are going to work out in one.  Furthermore, I recommend you change your clothes as soon as you conclude your workout. Even if you cannot take a shower right away, it is important to get those sweaty “chonies” and skintight yoga pants off.  Thongs worn throughout the day can even contribute to irritation.  Your gynecologist can recommend a prescription-free cream that helps your special parts from feeling bad due to chafing caused by close contact with your close-fitting undergarments.

Bottom line, you have to wear the panties that make you feel your best.  Even if you are the only one who gets to see your matching, lacey ensemble, your confidence will exude and you will feel comfortable too.  Until next time, may you shine from the inside out.
