Memorial Day Memories—Share Yours Here

Please post memories and photos of those you wish to memorialize this weekend.

It's sometimes easy to forget what Memorial Day is all about.  Officially, it's a day to remember people who gave their lives serving our country. It can also be a time to remember anyone we've lost. Where do we have places to remember in Studio City? Of course we have the nearby but we also have the for fallen firefighters in the and the recalling the soldiers who liberated California right there at the foot of what is now Universal Studios. My dad, Ignatius Szymanski, buried at Hollywood Forever, served in Vietnam, and worked for the government in many capacities that took him all around the world.  Last year, a notable local, , who would tell me stories about fighting in the Korean War, died at 79. There was a  from the U.S. Army, . Also last year, we lost veteran Studio City firefighter Greg Allen in a tragedy just before he retired. Please feel free to put your thoughts and memories for people in the Comments area below, and add photos or video of the person in the photo gallery.
