Did You See a Triangle in the Sky on Friday Night? MUFON Wants to Know

Another disturbing report of a strange object in the sky over Studio City warrants this group's investigation.

The eyewitness is concerned about a strange sighting over the skies of Studio City seen this past Friday night, and wonders if anyone else saw it.

Steve Murillo, who is the local state investigator for the or MUFON, that meets in Studio City, took the report from the witness—who asked to remain anonymous—and plans to give a full report at their .

So far, Murillo offered to Studio City Patch, the unedited and unfiltered report:

"I was driving home on the east/southbound 101 at 11:23pm on the
evening of Friday, October 14, 2011. When I was approaching the
Woodman exit, I saw four very bright lights in the air ahead of me.
They looked like car headlights, except they were very bright, and
were illuminating the foggy cloud cover above and below them. I
thought it was a jet taking off from Burbank airport for a few
seconds, but then I realized that the light coming down from this
thing were illuminating a patch of the highway in front of me, so it
was quite low. When I first saw it the angle was about 20degrees above the horizon.

There was other traffic on the highway with me, and when
I passed under the object, I leaned forward and looked up through my windshield. I saw silver-colored, triangular object with a red light
at the point, and two green lights midway down each side (they were
constant, unblinking lights). I THINK there were also lights at the
rear corners. Also on the shape was a silver line just "inboard" from
the outer edge, in a v-shape mirroring the triangle itself (see my
really not very good drawing).

As I passed under it my car was illuminated by the light coming off of it. I saw the underside of it VERY clearly (though could no longer see the four bright white lights), and I don’t think it could’ve been more than 100’ off the ground. Given the way the angle increased so rapidly (I was going about 60 and it was going the other direction at about ¼-½ my speed), I think it must’ve been pretty low.

I would’ve done ANYTHING to be on anything but a freeway, as I watched it disappear down the road behind me. I exited at Laurel Canyon, turned around and headed back down the freeway but I never saw it again. I went all the way to Van Nuys Blvd. before realizing I would've caught it and that it must not be following the original flight path/pattern. While at the stoplight at Laurel Canyon I noted the time on my car’s clock (it said 11:24 and it had been about 1 minute since I saw the object). I was hoping someone
else exiting would pull next to me so I could ask if they’d seen it
too, but the only other car which exited turned right (and I was
turning left so I could get back on the freeway in the other
direction).

I’d do anything to be able to relive this experience. It was either someone trying very hard to be a convincing UFO over the
freeway (say, by dressing up a helicopter), or… …or I don’t know. I
was surprised at how clearly I saw it when I looked up through my
windshield (though I probably only saw the actual “upview” of the
shape for a second or two); I was only expecting to see the four
lights – not the triangular thingy I actually saw. When I first saw
the row of four lights (which I drew next to the triangle shape), they
were giving of a LOT of light radiating upwards from them as well as
downwards – represented by the triangles in the drawing but not to the side - AND not nearly in the sharply-defined conical shape I represent in the drawing - it was just massive amounts of light spilling upwards and downwards). The light was “yellower/whiter” than a police spotlight (which has kind of a blue hue), and the pool of light it made on the freeway was less defined as well. The pool of light on the freeway was also not “jittering” the way a police helicopter light does. When the object was still in front of me (and all I could see were the four lights), I could tell that it was moving a bit from side to side (very smoothly) as it came toward me. I have never seen a UFO before, nor have I ever reported anything like this ever before.

Honestly – it was a pretty incredible sight, the more I think about
it. I know this is likely one of the lamer reports you receive, but I
can hardly believe that not one other person on the freeway
saw/reported it. Someone travelling in the other direction would’ve
had a side view at about a 45-degree angle. While I would like remain anonymous (regarding this reports appearance in public), I would be more than happy to be contacted if anyone has any questions."

I thought I saw the same thing Saturday evening when I was on the 101 exiting into Mulholland.
Mike Szymanski (Editor) October 17, 2011 at 02:29 pm
Was that in the Cahuenga Pass? or the other end of the Valley where 101 crosses Mulholland? Sounds like you should contact Steve Murillo (contact at bottom of this story) http://patch.com/A-mT5X and I know they will be discussing this on Tuesday night at the meeting in Studio City

We were driving the same route, perhaps an hour earlier, and I remember a similar sight in that area, but attributed it to a police helicopter. The light was brighter and steadier than one would expect. I tried to see the source, but didn't actually see what it was. Did anyone check with the police department to see if there was a chase going on sometime before midnight?
Mike Szymanski (Editor) October 17, 2011 at 03:10 pm
LAPD says no, but will check Highway Patrol

Lockheed has a tendency to develop new planes and test them out in SFV. I grew up here and remember some during WWII. An interesting one was the P 38. They could be developing something useful for LA mobile and foot chases that have been more and more frequent.
eydie noll October 17, 2011 at 04:11 pm
Interesting. Was there any noise from this object?
Irene Gibson October 17, 2011 at 04:19 pm
I don't remember any sound.....just the unusually bright beam of light. Excellent visibility, as would be useful on a movie set. Whereas the helicopters that I've seen in Sherman Oaks are noisy and the light beam less effective.

One person emailed and said he saw it and thought it was a night hang-glider...by chance, the MUFON investigator is not only a pilot, but a hang glider expert himself, so he may sift out the difference. Please write if you have seen this!!!

The light was from the Hollywood Bowl. They had a very bright blue light display for former President Bill Clinton's love fest. I saw it. It looked unusual but trust me, the source was not ETs but rather the very large ego of the former president and his very wealthy friends. Sorry to burst anyone's theories about aliens.
Mike Szymanski (Editor) October 17, 2011 at 10:46 pm
Could that be true? But that was Saturday night, right? This happened Friday
Irene Gibson October 17, 2011 at 11:12 pm
The light I saw was definitely NOT from the Hollywood Bowl......Studio City is some distance away and located IN the SFV. Furthermore, the light was FROM a moving height and acting like those we see from helicopters when searching for or following something on the ground. And it was Friday night!
Sean McCarthy October 17, 2011 at 11:37 pm
I tell you what. Call the Holywood Bowl and ask them if they were testing the lights on Friday night. I witnessed the lights as I drove on the Hollywood Freeway, Friday evening at approximately 10 PM. It is irrelevant when the former POTUS was there. His schedule is not my concen. I know what I saw and when I saw it. If you want to clear up the mystery call the Bowl.

What a fascinating feed. I'm curious on the development of this story.

Crazy. I'm betting on an earthly explanation. I hope we find outwhat it is!!

It's Friday night again, look to the stars, look to the stars!
Irene Gibson October 23, 2011 at 01:31 pm
We drove the same route last night, but there was nothing shining down on Studio City but stars. Of course it was Saturday night, so maybe that had something to do with it. Will look again next Friday. Am more alert now, but actually always have noticed helicopters, particularly those with search lights, and noted their markings (police, fire, News). Will watch for hang-gliders as well now, although they aren't usually out after sunset, and are more along the coast, rarely over populated areas.

I had other friends keeping an eye out last night. The MUFON folk say that it's astounding what you see if you just keep your eyes to the skies at night around Los Angeles. Bring a camera though, and post it on Patch!

This is obviously a liberal air balloon, powered by the despicable former "presidents" inflated feelings of self-worth. The bad news: this is the origin of all UFO sightings since the beginning of time... ROMNEY2012 Who Let The Kenyans Out!?
