Hit and Run of Pedestrians on Ventura Blvd.

I live in the area where the 35 year old gentleman was killed by a hit and run driver on Sat. night.  In fact, I was coming home that night and saw the whole scene.  Last night LAPD, with the pressure of the community, did a checkpoint for drunk drivers.  It is long over-due!  "The Curve" is getting out of control, cars go way too fast!  It was just a matter of time before someone was killed and it's a shame someone's life had to be taken for authorities to take some action.  I am a little disappointed that the checkpoint was only open until a little after 11pm.  It would have been nice to see the LAPD there a little later, perhaps  11pm-2am, when establishments close.  I appreciate LAPD's presence and hope they make this a regular checkpoint!  Cars often run the light on Ventura Blvd. at Fairway, far exceeding the speed limit.  It's just a matter of time before more pedestrians are killed and cars will be broadsided, coming out of Fairway!  What can be done to make this blind curve of Ventura  safer?  Please make suggestions!
