How to Handle Rejection

It's not the end of the world, here's how to handle it.

Whether you’ve been single for one month, one year or 10 years, it’s easy to become disillusioned when looking for love. Even though you’re smart, funny, interesting, kind, attractive, you wonder why you never get past a first date.

When you get turned down, you personalize it, thinking there must be something wrong with you. You may even go global and build up resentments against all members of the opposite sex.

Remember that when he/she doesn’t respond or return your calls, it has nothing to do with you. It’s all about them and their history/herstory.

You don’t have to change to fulfill anyone else’s expectations. Don’t try to be an orange when you’re an apple. You deserve to love and be loved exactly for who you are. There’s a cover for every pot.

Rejection is the universe’s way of protecting you. It’s a compliment saying that you’re worthy of someone much better, the perfect partner. Never settle for less.

Stay out of the results and relish the journey. You never know when that one moment will occur, so it’s important to always remain open and positive.

HERE’S THE BIGGEST RELIEF OF ALL: No matter what you do or don’t do, and no matter what you say or don’t say, when and if you’re supposed to be with that special person, you will be. And when and if you’re not supposed to be with him/her, no matter what you do or don’t do, or say or don’t say, then you won’t be.

In the meantime, do something loving for yourself or someone else. What you give out returns to you plus more. Call another single friend, ask how they’re doing, make plans to get together. Volunteer at one of ous, , retirement homes, animal or homeless shelters.

Treat yourself to a night of nurturing and pampering. Shop at in Tujunga Village and choose from an array of great smelling candles and bubble baths. Rent any Academy Award Best Picture winner at during March, in DVD format-99 cents/VHS-free.

Have a healthy meal. Get a good night’s sleep. You’ll be perky in the morning, ready for an invigorating walk on Ventura Boulevard, focusing on your mission of finding love in Studio City, by practicing your spotting and speaking skills with a smile on your face and hope in your heart.

Singles Slogan for Today: Before you retire each night, say to yourself:  “I’m loveable and valuable just because I’m me and five things I like about myself are ____________________(list qualities, character traits, physical attributes)."

I attended N.H.H.S. in the mid-seventies. Mr. Reeves and Mr. Moelter were two of my favorites.Read More Loved Mr. McLeroy for Sociology.

great article Mary! Ms. Korney, she sometimes scared me to death! But always around christmas IRead More think of her and pronounce my letters clearly at the end of a word when I sing. I can still remember the song I had to sing for my final, "If ever I would leave you..." She taught me a lot. I agree with everything you said about Mr. Reeves. I had Mr. Pesin for Algebra, he did nothing to help further my math skills. The biggest flirt around, ick. We had a girl in school at the time that flirted her way to an A and hardly ever went to class. Go figure!! I also thought quite highly of Ms. Requiam. Glad she's still around.
