I'm happy to say that today is my first day back at work on This was the first-time ever in my entire writing career that I was able to enjoy hiatus because I knew at the end of it I had an amazing job to go back to. That has .
So, when the car broke down this week and cost thousands of dollars my daughter said, “Good thing you have a job, mommy.”
And when our and we had to make multiple visits to the vet my daughter said, “Good thing you have a job, mommy.”
And when the dryer stopped working and I had to hang all my clothes from the shower I looked at my daughter and said, “I know, I know.”
The truth is she’s absolutely right. It is. It's an amazingly good thing.
I would not have been able to afford to take care of one of those emergencies. I couldn’t even afford gas. Those days will always be a part of my daughter and me. We walked through something that changed us forever. For better.
I took Hannah to the movies the other night after the end of our long week. I asked her if she wanted popcorn.
“Mommy, you’ve had to spend so much money this week on all these big things. I don’t need popcorn.”
I smiled, took her hand, walked her to the concession counter and bought a bucket of popcorn.
“Then, it's a really good thing I have a job, baby.”
I am so grateful.
