Urgent Call to Help Save Coldwater Canyon!!!

Save Coldwater Canyon is an organization that was created to preserve and protect the scenic beauty, natural environment, health, safety and welfare of Coldwater Canyon and its neighboring communities.  

We need your help in our fight against the construction of the unnecessary private parking garage, playing field and private bridge spanning Coldwater Canyon being proposed by private school Harvard-Westlake.  The school's need for additional parking is being grossly overstated as they could accommodate any reasonable additional parking needs within the existing perimeter of their vast campus.  We do not want commercial expansion, including a sports field with lights and a towering bridge into this residential neighborhood zoned for “low” and “minimum” residential use.  The school would need to obtain countless exceptions to City laws and ordinances in order to be allowed to build this massive commercial structure.  All for a project of questionable need and with no larger community benefit!  

Please help us stop the destructive impact this huge project will have on the wildlife, residents, canyon commuters and those hundreds of thousands of people who simply enjoy Coldwater Canyon. Help stop the irreversibly destructive impact this incongruous construction will have in the area, including the threat to hundreds of bird and mammal species (several designated "threatened" or "declining"), the removal of protected mature oak and walnut trees, and the increased noise, light and air pollution that will occur during and after construction to nearby residents, preschools, and all those who enjoy the canyon as for what it was planned to remain...A natural open space and wildlife corridor free from commercial use. 

Just the road closures and delays during the 2+ years of construction would cause an enormous disruption in traffic in an already congested commuting artery, bringing forth “CanyonGeddon II”  

Please help us in stopping this destructive and unnecessary parking garage expansion.  The draft Environmental Impact Report has just been released and time is running out to oppose this calamitous and detrimental proposal by Harvard-Westlake.
