A pair of accidents occurring during rush hour canyon traffic completely closed a stretch of Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Studio City.
The Tuesday evening crash reportedly involved an LAPD motorcycle patrol officer who was taken to the hospital, but does not have life-threatening injuries, according to Officer Sara Faden of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations
The cars involved were a blue sedan that crashed into the motorcycle officer, who was on the way to answering a call of a separate accident about a quarter mile away.
At 6:45 p.m., the roadway connecting the San Fernando Valley to Hollywood and West Hollywood was opened after being completely closed for nearly two hours. Police are investigating the area, and the spill-off is crowding Mulholland Drive, Coldwater Canyon and making the 101 Freeway busier than usual.
Laurel Canyon is closed between Mulholland Drive and Ventura Boulevard. This is only a few days before Coldwater Canyon, the parallel alternate route, will be closed for a month for repairs.
Faden doesn't know the condition of the two other motorists injured in the collision.
