On his way home from the Screen Actors Guild Awards, actor Taye Diggs found a burglar in his home in Studio City, Los Angeles Police said.
Diggs, on the show Private Practice, lives in the 3100 block of Oakdell Lane in the Fryman Canyon area with his wife Idina Menzel. He was returning home at about 11:10 p.m. Sunday night.
A suspect was seen, and Diggs chased him and tackled him and held him until police arrived. The suspect, who was unidentified, twisted his ankle and Diggs was uninjured.
At 11:20 p.m., Los Angeles Police arrested Hassan Juma, 20, and booked him on suspicion of burglary, said Richard French of the Los Angeles Police Department. Juma remains in jail Monday on $50,000 bail.
Not far away last August, the Studio City home of LL Cool J was broken into and the rapper/star tackled and detained a suspect. Also last year, a stalker was found outside the home of Miley Cyrus in Studio City.
There's a mental competency conference scheduled today (Monday) in Van Nuys for Jonathan A. Kirby, the transient charged with breaking into the Studio City
home of LL Cool J.
