Car and Boat Parked Around Studio City—Is This Being a Good Neighbor?

There's a pick-up truck and a red boat that's making the rounds around Studio City lately, parked in front of residential houses for just a long enough time to be legal, and then moved again.

Is that being a good neighbor?

Well, the local resident picked the wrong houses lately to park in front of.

Last week, it was in front of Rita Villa's, the secretary of the Studio City Neighborhood Council. Then, it was moved across the street from Lisa Sarkin, the vice president of the Neighborhood Council.

"If somebody has a truck and a boat like this, they should have the proper place to store it," Sarkin said.

When confronted about the parking situation, the man who owns the vehicles said it was a public street, and he was parking legally. He doesn't have enough room in his own garage or at his house to park the boat.

Los Angeles Police Senior Lead Office Michael Lewis received complaints about the parking situations, but noted that he can do nothing unless it is parked on private property, blocks a driveway, violates posted signs or is not moved for more than 72 hours.

Lewis said he can be contacted at: 818-634-2593 or by email: 31575@lapd.lacity.org

"It may be legal," Sarkin pointed out, "but it's not really being a good neighbor."
