The driver of the big rig, a 50-year-old Oxnard man, was not injured, Tang said. His name was not released.

Kim was driving a 2008 Lexus, when his car approached the big rig, which "was slowing to a stop due to a prior non-injury collision south of Vineland Avenue," Tang said.

"The driver of the Lexus allowed his vehicle to collide with the rear of the tractor's rear trailer," Tang said. "The Lexus was lodged under the rear cargo door of the trailer."

All southbound lanes of the 101 were closed after the fatal collision, with traffic diverted to the eastbound Ventura (134) Freeway, the CHP reported. A single lane of the southbound 101 was opened about 4:15 a.m., and the remaining lanes were reopened about 6:35 a.m., the CHP reported.
